Hi,

Could anyone suggest how it is possible to install jMaki into the IDE without going through the Plugin Manager?

I would like to know in order to update the Adding Support for a Web Framework tutorial.

It used to be that you could download and install the org-netbeans-modules-sun-jmaki.nbm file listed on:

https://ajax.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=0

However, doing this now, I've noticed that this module no longer allows you to choose the jMaki framework in the last step of the New Project wizard. Is there another module that needs to be installed?

thanks,
troy

Hi Troy,

I just tested the downloaded version from ajax.dev.java.net org-netbeans-modules-sun-jmaki.nbm
and it works to create a web app and then make selectable the jMaki framework with RC1.
Were you sure to restart your IDE?

Perhaps someone on this list has some insight on this - it is jMaki related. It has sat on the forum list for weeks w/ little to no response. I did email the author of the referenced article but I think she has been too busy to reply. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

I posted it on 2 forums...

http://forums.netbeans.org/viewtopic.php?t=1604&highlight Ajax Users forum

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Mark,

You might want to try the jmaki.org (jmaki.com) discussion forum.

I am still adding modules for NetBeans 6.5 here.
I am on a dial-up connection so because the IP is dynamic, I get only about three hours to download anything. To solve this I use Free_Download_Manager. Now the trick is to find the updates. I try to install them without being online first and when it fails I can see the address. I use this address in FDM site explorer and am able to find the modules individually. Now here is the address for a new beta module for jMaki. Why not use the plugin manager as long as you can add downloads? How could we learn to build nbm files from jars? They can be extracted from nmb to jars.

http://dlc.sun.com/netbeans/updates/6.5/uc/final/beta/modules/extra/

it all comes from sun anyway.
I just prefer not to stumble through all the links from java.sun pages if I can help it. Not to complain but it is allmost as bad as Microsoft and MSDN.
Just as a statistic, what is the difference in the number of employees for each? It seems that there is just about as much data posted for either.
Well good luck on the new tutorial. I look forward to reading it.
Maybe you could pass it along to Dr. Sang Shin?

OOPS! That file extension is not allowed here.
Sorry!
