Something happened to my project. All the source files seem to still be intact on the disk, but if I try to expand the tree src tree or double click on it the ide seems to hang.

Like I said it looks like all the files are still OK, so I guess I could create a new project and cut and paste all the files into the new project, but that seems dumb.

Is there a way to re-initialze the project from the source files?

This happened in 6.5.1

You might try what I did migrating my project from Solaris to Windows XP.
Try these steps:

1) Shutdown Netbeans.

2) Move your project directory to a temporary location. Not the
NetBeansProject directory itself, just the directory that has your project
in it.

3) Start NetBeans and create a new Project with the same name.

4) Close NetBeans.

5) Move your project directory back from the temporary location, replacing
the one you just created.

6) Start NetBeans and open your project. The sources should now show up as
part of the project.

This worked for me on 6.7, so hopefully it will work you on 6.5.1 as well.

actually I think I saw your previous post that mentioned this, and tried it last night ... I did work in 6.5.1, but then I ran into svn issues, so i upgraded to 6.7, and copied all the source files over and everything is now OK ... thanks!
