Previously I asked for help on this board about the following problem:

Quote:
I created a JavaHelp system for swing desktop application. When I clicked a help menu item or button to invoke the help, the action opens the help viewer and displays the TOC (or index) in the left hand panel of the viewer. But when I click a topic or index link, nothing is displayed in the right hand panel and the whole application freezes and has to be terminated from the IDE.

On a hunch and out of desperation I rebuilt the project, but changed the Java platform to 1.6 instead of 1.7. The help system now works perfectly. Is there possibly a bug in 1.7 or other restrictions on why 1.7 cannot be used with Netbeans 7.0.1? Does 1.7 exhibit other instabilities that should be known about when used with 7.0.1?

I've noticed that the NetBeans editor doesn't catch syntax errors in
"switch" if you use strings. The compiler catches it but the error
message just says there has been a problem with the compiler and to
report it.

You can find the error, it's just not as easy as we've come to expect
with NetBeans.
