I've brought up a new computer and I'm trying to get all my projects set up in NetBeans. I have 4 projects loaded just fine but now I can't get another one loaded because I'm getting the following error:

Source directory is already netBeans project (maybe only in memory).

This is not the case. The directory in question has not been used yet and I've tried a number of different projects to set up and I get the same error. All of these projects (I have 8 that I'm working on) share the same parent directory and that wasn't an issue when I set up the first 4. I've closed and opened the Beans and still the same issue.

What is the (maybe only in memory) thing about?

I am unfamiliar with this warning. A couple of questions: what version of
NetBeans are you using on your new computer/old computer and what exactly do
you mean by loading? Do you mean that you've copied the project from your
old computer and are trying to open it in NetBeans?

My NetBeans version is 7.0.1.

Turns out the issue goes away when I checked the option "Put NetBeans metadata into a separate directory". It doesn't like the default location for the metadata.

have you tried closing NB and deleting userhome/.netbeans/var/cache?
