Hi,

I'm working with a project with a lot of files. I usually work on one "thing" at a time, be that a feature or a bugfix. This work may span weeks if it's a big feature, but I usually only work with a handful of files at a time.

Occasionally, I may work on several "things" in parallel, each of those things touching different subsets of the total set of files in the project.

This is where a working set feature would come in handy. It would allow me to organize different groups of files picked from anywhere (open projects, file system). Then I could name the group and open/close editor views of the entire group as one. A really great subfeature would be if Netbeans could remember open/closed state (i.e. I may not always have all files open), window layout and caret position for the files. Then I could "context switch" really easily.

Such a feature would make my everyday work environment more efficient, and NB much more cool. In particular if it was implemented more elegantly than the way Eclipse has done it.

I don't believe NB has a comparable feature today. Can somebody prove me wrong? (And no, add-to-favorites doesn't quite cut it.)

Thanks,

Martin.
