Hello!

I have maven project from book.
I opened it in netbeans 7.3.
When I click on 'Run' button I am promted to select server.
I select preconfigured Tomcat 7.0.37 server.
As a result my project is built because war file is created with no errors.
But it is not deployed on tomcat.
Why does not netbeans deploy to tomcat?

Thank you!

I'm not sure if there is a better way but here's what I do:
Note that I am running NB 7.3, tomcat 7.0.34, java OpenJDK 1.7.0_19 on Scientific Linux.

I use ANT in my projects but I don't believe that makes a difference here (I could be wrong).

#1 to run or debug my tomcat app from inside the IDE, I had to have tomcat installed in my directory because of privilege issues. The global install in /usr/local would not allow NB to deploy the app and I didn't want to have that owned by me or be world writeable.

#2 I don't deploy my app into production on my workstation, there is a testing and a production server. To deploy over there I use the tomcat manager web app to upload the war file.

This works well for me.

What kind of errors do you get?

Joe

Some of us are seeing this in a mail feed and the original question is
not included, so we can't see what you are asking.

My problem is that I use NetBeans 7.3 to create and run a web project. I know that after I press F6 to run my project, it must be deployed to Tomcat server by Netbeans, but I couldn't find the deployed project in Tomcat's webapps directory. I don't know why. Please explain what happened.

Click the "Services" tab, then find "Servers" in the tree menu, open
"Servers", find "Apache Tomcat", right-click it and select "Properties"
from the pop up menu.

The dialog box that pops up will have information about where things are
stored in Tomcat.
