Happy Birthday Netbeans from Australia.
I think that Netbeans will continue to increase its support for other languages. Ruby, Python, etc.
I think that the platform support that Netbeans provides will be increased. By this I mean module development in Netbeans will be better than ever, hopefully with less XML editing.
I think that the editor support will get even better and, if we are lucky, even better gui building support. Love the gui building support. |

You dont have to an oracle or a tarot card reader to predict the future of something as cool as NetBeans!!!!!!!!! .................
I will quote an incident here: We did a two day seminar on Open Source technologies for first year students here at my college and guess what??
Every person present who attended it gave excellent feedback to it and rated it as the best and most useful product they found.....
I am sure 10 years is a very small span of time, NetBeans has a loooong looong way to go..... Its extremely popular with college students and industry people alike... AND this is just the beginning.......
NetBeans will rule the world sooon as the Grand-est IDE present on Earth!!

due to the Robustness that NetBeans is taking more and more. NetBeans is seeing the future as the unique Java IDE and Technologies complementaries. For now their competence is Eclipse and JDeveloper i think but, of the same way I move to Netbeans 6 months ago the rest of people will move from any IDE to NetBeans in the future .
NetBeans... The only IDE you will need |

I Would like to enables javascript intellsense and debugging also more than that, just import the library for example Extjs and then it'll reconized all propertyes, objects, functions, etcs...
More Code Snippets, yeah!
Incorporate third partys libraryes like ORMs
Silverlight supports! if eclipse allows, why not NetBeans dude! , maybe windows mobile also...
Improve a new update manager, i dont like 6.1, well i have to check new version sorry im downloading now! |

So, in most humble of my opinions:
I think that Netbeans will gain popularity over time, as since 5.x it has made significant progress. It's support for dynamic languages coming in just in time as Ruby is popular and integration with webservers will help for sure
What is more, I think that the speed of the actual IDE (once started ) has improved so that it may stop being a target for jokes.
Finally, NBs being one of the three major players in the IDE market is a very important thing, nothing drives enhancements and cool features coming like lively competition.
Happy birthday NB! |

Netbeans is the only IDE that you need!!!
But now the world is seeing a revolution in embedded device technology as more and more products and utilities go small!
Netbeans does have a great support for Sun SPOT and mobility, but I think in future it can also provide suppost for other embedded languages and even microcontrollers. For instance look at the Keil IDE/Tool for embedded development.. http://www.keil.com/
That would really make it the Only IDE that anyone can ever need!
Happy Birthday Netbeans! |
