urgent help with database

im doing a school project, and its due later today. looked all over for help, but didnt think to post here.

i am coding a security system. i have everything done. gui is designed. apis are created for each entity in table, only 4. but i cannot get the derby database to work. i dont know what to do with the apis i create.

first off, i am tying to do a basic login forum. i looked all over, not helping.

after user logs he, he is then sent to a page with sensor information all stored in the db. but i cant figure out how to use the db!

but that is where i get stuck. i am using netbeans 7.1. at te Creating the Application it tells me to "In the first panel of the wizard, expand the Java category and select the Java Desktop Application template. Click Next.". but i do not have that option, so i dont know what to do!!
