Hi,

I got some problems with defining keymaps in NB6.1. I am working an a
MacBook pro without
a keypad. Since I got some problems with the keyboard shortcut to
fold/unfold methods, I
decided to change it.

So I created a new keyboard profile named "Netbeans anm" (just
duplicated Netbeans) and
went through the whole keyboard shortcut list. I was not happy with
the shortcuts for
"comment", so I changed it to <CTRL>-<C>. This was no good idea,
because this is the
standard shortcut for Copy.

There was no warning, so the shortcut was gone. Too bad, so I tried
to repair it. But
I did not find this shortcut in the list. Eeeek. Ok, this is really a
mess, but I can just
delete the profile and start over.

I did so and recreated "Netbeans anm", but I got the message, that
this profile already
exists. Huh? I just deleted it. So I restarted Netbeans. Then I was
able to
duplicate/create the profile "Netbeans anm". But this did not help,
because in this newly
duplicated/created profile the shortcut for "Copy" was missing again.
Wow, that's strange.
So I deleted the profile again and created a new duplicate of
"Netbeans" with the name
"Netbeans anm2". Guess what, I got exactly the very same effect.
There was no shortcut
for "Copy", but all the former changes I made for "Netbeans anm" were
there. Even more
strange, the shortcut for "Cut", "Undo" and "Redo" were missing, too.

Anybody seen this effect? Any solutions?

Best regards,

anm

Hi!

The solution to the messed up shortcuts first: clean your userdir to get
the default settings (delete the folder "~/.netbeans" or change the path
to the userdir in "<NetbeansDir>/etc/netbeans.conf" file - you will
loose all your settings, but it is OK since they are messed up at the
moment...).

You are right with the issue, I have reproduced this with 6.1 just now:
there is no "copy" shortcut in the list of keymaps and shortcut
duplicity is not checked with a default editor shortcuts... also the
settings are not properly handled in 6.1... if you remove Alt+Shift+T,
it just remains there...

However, this issue is (imho only partially) fixed in DEV builds of
netbeans - if you set a keyboard shortcut for comment to Ctrl+C,
following happens:
1. you get no warning in options dialog (this should be fixed)
2. you can use Ctrl+C for commenting the code in the editor, copy does
not work in the editor (behavior is OK, your shortcut overrides default
one... just the warning is needed...)
3. if you remove the shortcut from the comment operation in
Tools>Options>Keymaps, Ctrl+C works for the copy again... (OK again)

... I think there should be the warning displayed...

If you really need the shortcut settings work properly, check out the
latest dev version (you can be even cooler and give Sun Microsystems
your feedback and bug reports:
http://www.netbeans.org/community/index.html - it is appreciated unless
you are rude or extremely irritating:o)).

One more small hint: use Ctrl+/ (comment/uncomment) instead of
Ctrl+Shift+T (comment) - this shortcut will be removed by default in 6.5
anyway...

I hope I helped you at least a little,

With best regards,

Ooops... my mistake - the issue persists even in dev build, I overlooked
something... I am filling a bug report for this:

Hi Petr,

many thanks for your investigation and the solution (delete userdir).
This will help
for the moment.

Best regards,

anm
