|
|
Hello! I'm having serious problems installing net beans on my computer. I haven't been able to find a thread anywhere else which has a fix for the issues I've been experiencing but if you know of one please direct me to it, or if you have any idea how to fix the issues below please tell me!
I recently updated to Lion. I've run all my software updates. My system is completely up to date.
I installed JDK 7 which went fine.
I then tried to install net beans and got an error at the end of the installation saying "Installation failed. Please contact the software publishers." However, when I search "Net Beans," in finder the application appears with a folder of the same name, however, trying to open it does nothing; the icon comes up for a moment before closing.
I've tried deleting this malfunctioning version of net beans but it has made no change.
I've tried uninstalling the JDK 7 but I don't seem to have the JavaVirtualMachine folder anywhere on my computer, even though when I installed Java 7 it said it was successful.
I've also tried configuring my java preferences etc but to no avail. I don't know what to do or what could be the cause, whether java is not properly installed for some reason or there is a bug with Lion.
If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. |

| As an update. I've completely reinstalled my operating system. Tried to install net beans / java 7 package. Installer still fails. I definitely have the correct version of java. |

| I have the exact same issue. Would love if someone here could ask us to do some stuff to diagnose what the issue is. |

| I resolved this by using the Apple JDK (1.6) and Netbeans installed no problem. Must be something to do with the 1.7 JDK from Oracle, or the installation path. Tried to change the home path in netbeans.conf but didn't work. |

Hi, this is how I resolved my / this problem :
JDK for Mac ReadMe
my problem was that :
4. when Finding Java Preferences.app and double-clicking it :
Java actually didn't really install plainly sucessfully, at least I had no Java Runtime :
| Quote: | | To open "Java Preferences.app," you need a Java runtime. Would you lke to install one now? |

I had to click "Install", then It seemed to to be downloading and install something (probably Java SE 6, which I think is "default" Java SE for "Lion" ). then continued with the above ReadMe tutorial to make sure JDK 7 was default, finally relaunched netbeans .mpkg installation, which was successful this time (it did take some time 5 minutes maybe).
