So, I tried to create a project, and got the above error message.

I tried again -- wiped out my ~/NetBeansproject directory. That
removes all my NetBeans projects, right?

Then tried again. Still got the above message. The fine print says,
"The following folders that you selected are already used in this or
another project."

If it's in this project, why is it an error? That's only one
project.

If it's in another project, where is the definition of that other
project? As I say, I deleted my NetBeansProjects directory, and I
assume that every project has an entry in there. Or are some project
definitions lurking elsewhere? What's the standrard way to find all
the project definitions that are known to the system?

It would be helpful if the error messages were more informative about
the conflicting project.
