Has this changed very recently?
I used to have the projects window expandable from the side like the Navigator. So you can either minimize or pin it. I can't seem to get it to do this anymore. The project window is acting in the tabbed way, just like any file I open. |

AFAIK, nothing has changed in this area. You should be able to move the
Projects view anywhere you like by drag & dropping its tab or title bar.
If you'd just like to slide it to the side, clicking on the <|| icon
in the tab should do.
If nothing helps, the Window | Reset Windows command should restore the
initial default state. You should be able to slide the Projects view
easily then.

Have you tried to reset the windows? If doesn't help this, could you try
to run NetBeans with new userdir?
http://blogs.sun.com/netbeansphp/entry/userdir . If this help, then it
means that your old userdir is probably broken.
Let me know the progress.
Thanks,
Petr

I have the same problem.
I don't have the <|| button, it looks and behaves exactly like the editor windows.
When I try to drag it to the side bars, it just stays where it was....
Resetting the Windows didn't work neither.
Starting Netbeans with the userdir parameter worked, but this ways I lose all my settings.
--userdir /space/netbeans/userdirs/newTest
Does anybody know where exactly netbeans saves these userdirs? |

Ok I found the default userdir (I'm using win7):
C:\Users\MyWindowsUserName\.netbeans-registration\6.9
after I deleted these files and dirs everything worked again, without the parameter.
lock
build.properties
var/
config/
Well, but of course I've lost all my settings.... |

| I used to experience the projects window expansible from the side similar the Navigator. So you can either denigrate or pin it. I can't seem to get it to do this any longer. The project window is pretending in the tabbed way, just like any file I open. |

| 'Windows->Reset' worked for me, but only when project window was closed at the time of reset. I'm using Win 7. |
