@AndreasStefik: Can you help to answer Markus' questions about accessibility? We had Sodbeans in the past, but now it redirects to the quorum page.
With kind regards, markiewb

Hi folks,
I discussed with Markus about short cuts he can use to avoid mouse clicking and how to find the accessibility plugin.

Can anybody help with more information on that topic?

Hi Markus,

I prefer to use the mouse as little as possible and I can confirm NetBeans can be used with just a keyboard. All functionality which is normally operated using a mouse (i.e. CTRL+CLICK for "Go to declaration") also has a corresponding menu item (Navigate -> Go to declaration) and in most cases also a keyboard shortcut (CTRL+B for "Go to declaration").

Switching focus between panels and tabs can be done with CTRL+TAB.

Missing shortcuts can be easily added in Tools->Options->Keymap which is also the only part I find hard to navigate with the keyboard. I never found a way to directly focus on the main menu items (General, Editor, etc), the only way I found to open the various menus is to navigate to the "Filter" field using SHIFT+TAB and then use it to select the menu. In example, typing "keymap" in the "Filter" field and pressing ENTER will open the "Keymap" menu.

I have no idea if there is a screen reader that works with NetBeans, Gnome accessibility tools don't seem to work well with Java applications.

Have a nice day,

Paolo
