Hello,
although I have both a GlassFish v3 and an Apache Tomcat 6.0.18 server
registered in the Tools | Servers dialog, whenever I try to create a
new Java EE | Enterprise Application project, NetBeans informs me that
"No servers are registered in the IDE. To register a server, click the
"Add..." button."
Even if I do register another server through the Add button, the
message stays there and the Server list in the step 3 of the "New
Enterprise Application" wizard is empty.
Both the servers work just fine and can be controlled from the
Services tab without any issues.
Anyone has any idea what I could be doing wrong? Suspecting my
settings could be messed up, I moved away my ~/.netbeans directory,
even downloaded and installed a fresh NetBeans 6.5 IDE Java Bundle,
nothing changed.
Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.5 (Build 200811100001)
Java: 1.6.0_11; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 11.0-b16
System: Linux version 2.6.25.4-rt4 running on i386; UTF-8; sk_SK (nb)
Thanks in advance. Best,
Peter |

Well, Tomcat isn't a JEE compatible server, so that explains why NetBeans won't
allow you to choose it for an Enterprise application. You should be able to
develop Web applications for Tomcat.
As for GlassFish v3, do you have the GFv3 plugin installed? I guess you would,
else it may be hard to register it in NetBeans.

Afaik GFv3 plugin (not sure about the GF runtime) allows only web apps
so far. You need GFv2 if you want to create enterprise application.

that would explain it. :-)
I'm very new to the JEE world, so thank you both for your notes.
Best,
