try to update to NB 6.7 and post your result here. Or you can also try jdk6u11. Thanks.

I have encountered several bugs with NB 6.5 and JDK 1.6.0u12.
The issues are marked as 'resolved', but only for 6.7. It appears that they are not planning to fix the issues for 6.5, which means that you must revert to JDK 1.6.0u11.
You can still get that JDK by fiddling with the URL's on the JDK download page. The problem is that installing it won't change the version of the JRE: it installs the new JDK but refuses to install a new JRE when a newer one is already installed. This means that you must completely uninstall JDK and JRE. |

| | It should be clear to the NetBeans team that this is *not* acceptable. Having severe bugs throughout the IDE with Update 12 and then not fixing these until a new release that's not due until June or so is no good. Sure I've got 6.7 M2 installed, but I can't ask all other developers I work with to jump to 6.7. I also tried a nightly recently and the project scanning gobbled up far more memory than 6.7 M2 or 6.5 and never completed (even when given hours to do so) when it was given more memory. In short, 6.7 is still a crap shoot and won't be officially stable until June or so -- developers need a fix on 6.5 *now*.

For the 6.5 users the fixes would be available on the update center soon
as well.
Please stay tuned.

Good to hear. But just in case: does anybody from the NetBeans team know how to downgrade the (IPS-controlled in /usr/java) JDK 1.6.0_12 that will be shipping with the next release of OpenSolaris to 1.6.0_11?
Regards
Georg

I suspected the NetBeans team was not going to leave 6.5 users high and
dry until June. It's good to hear confirmation of that!

That's great to hear. Do you have any idea when this will be? Next week or next month?
Thanks. |
