I have installed java 1.6.0.10 and Netbeans 6.1 on my ubuntu 8.10 tablet pc. I have downloaded WTK2.5.2 and installed it into ~/WTK2.5.2 and then added it as a platform through Netbeans. Then I installed the mobility plugin again through Netbeans. I can create and build a mobile project no problem but when I run it I get the error "Http Server is no running. Start it first".

I'm afraid I don't know why the midlet needs a http server or how I start it if it does. Please help me set it up correctly.

In the plugins window check whether you have installed 'Tomcat'. If not install 'Tomcat' and then try to run the midlet again.
