I played around with Drupal after setting up a test install on my web space and I am sold. Now I want to learn how to develop it and build a website on my PC, running Ubuntu 9.04. After looking into it, I found this:

http://blogs.sun.com/angad/entry/drupal_plugin_for_netbeans_and

and followed the directions for loading Drupal on NetBeans. However, in the instructions, there is a web server configuration part of the setup, but that was not an option for me that I could see. When I tried to run Drupal so I could set up the database, I get:

Not Found

The requested URL /eic/index.php was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.11 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.6-3ubuntu4.1 with Suhosin-Patch Server at localhost Port 80

yet, the address is correct. I ran sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start in terminal. It stated that Apache is running, as I guessed looking at the "Not Found" message. Port 80 is the default, so it is running and opening in the right place. The URL is correct, as far as I can tell. I cannot open the file from where it is - it is a php file, Firefox just tried to re-save it.
The instructions are made for Solaris so I am not sure if I need to move the files to root for them to work (which they shouldn't). I build a quick rails site (just the dummy shell, not a real web site) and it came up just fine when I ran it. For some reason, the index.php is just not being found. I have search the net, but only found these same instructions.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks.

I don't know this drupal plugin, however "web server configuration" is not
present in NetBeans PHP support any more (it used to be there in previous, now
unsupported version of PHP support).

There should still be a way to work on previously made packages, like Drupal, or if I needed to port a project from one machine to another. So, this should work, I just seem to be missing something. The question is, what? Question
