Hi Clark,
thanks for your kind words, and we are glad you like NetBeans and find
it worth your money.
To your question - the PHP support in NetBeans is developed almost
entirely by Sun employees. The plans for the next release in the PHP
area are published here: http://wiki.netbeans.org/
PHPDevelopmentPlanNB68. And you are right that as Sun employees, we do
not have the knowledge of what will happen when/if the Oracle
acquisition is completed - after that, these plans may or may not
change.

With 6.7 at least, it's the best PHP ide I've found, and I've tried
about everything. The popular Eclipse, even Zend's version, just
feels too clunky and patched together. Netbeans is very well
thought out and sports a very nice interface. The SVN support is
the best I've seen.
That all said, where is it going? I've kind of just switched from
Komodo, and love it, but want to know that it's still supported. It
seems like everyone is pretty clueless right now what Oracle is
going to do (they would be stupid to stop supporting it). Is the
PHP stuff community supported or Sun supported?
If Oracle does drop development then the core guys should just form
a company and charge for their branded version (like Zend does with
Eclipse). Seriously, they charge $400 and it's not that great. I
would gladly play for a good supported version that I know will get
updated and refreshed on a regular basis. The java IDE market may
be crowded but PHP ide's are often still lacking...
Thanks,
Clark
