Hi Guys,

GREAT IDE!!! Thank you so much.

We have several 'Groups' set up for each location in our company. When we click to Add a New Project to a group, the 'default' location is looking for a folder buried on a network drive (WSmile which may or may not exist depending on how the user logs in.

Is there a config file, or registry entry that can be changed to map this default location to a local (CSmile drive?

I have checked but cannot find this on the forums anywere, so I apologize if this has been asked/answered.

Sincerely,

mksnyder

Which file location do you mean exactly? Source folder?

Thanks for clarification,
Tomas

Yes, the Sources folder. When it tries to open the 'Name and Location' window it's looking for the W:\ drive and some obscure path. It searches FOREVER before it gives up and just opens the window, and then when you try to change the path it keeps trying to find the original path so it is painfully slow. If we can change the default path to a local drive, it would be great.

Thank you for any assistance.

Sincerely,

mksnyder

the problem here is that you have mapped some external, currently not
available drive as your W: (right?). Unfortunately, the culprit here is
Windows itself (it takes very long to get answer whether some hard drive is
available or not if it's not present - W: in your case) and cannot be easily
avoided (that's why the searching is done in a background thread). And no,
right now there's no possibility to avoid this search - please, file an issue
[1] but, as I wrote:
- it's not NetBeans' fault
- cannot be really fixed on NetBeans' side
- does not happen so common (how many new PHP projects does an average user
create every day?)
- workaround is quite easy - unmap your network drives if there are not
available (not comfortable, I know).

From the reasons above this is not a high priority issue (plus no such issue
exists yet) but it could be somehow possible to avoid the search, using a
system property very likely. So please report it, I will try to fix it.

Thanks,
Tomas
