Is there anyone here? Is this list still functional?

I am having a problem with Netbeans 6.7.1. The editor window keeps
dropping out of insert mode. When this happens the line:column
indicators go away as well as the INS flag. The arrow keys scroll the
window instead of the cursor. Most keyboard functions no longer work.
Even Find and Replace are disabled in the Edit drop down menu.

How do I get back into insert mode? What can I disable to prevent this
from happening again?

If I had any idea how to reproduce it, I could probably figure out how
to prevent it. But so far all I know is that it happens. I still suspect
I am fat fingering some hot key combination that triggers it. But I
don't know what to look for to figure that out.

Sometimes it happens while I am editing, in other cases it happens when
I open or switch to a file. The last time I caught it was right after I
pasted a few lines of code, then I placed the cursor in a function name
and tried to Find Usages. The menu didn't pop up when I clicked. All but
one of the files I had open were locked at that point.

This was also happening with 6.5.1, but less often. Usually I can clear
it by closing and restarting NetBeans, but that doesn't always work
right away. In some ways it behaves like Textpad4 does with files that
are flagged Read Only, but this is happening on any file.

A couple of things I forgot to mention. This is on WinXP Pro SP2. We use
Perforce for source control.
