PHP SYMFONY web server configuration issues

Hey guys,

I am installing my symfony project on Windows. I use cygwin for my linux like environment.

I follow the steps required as specified in the
http://www.symfony-project.org/getting-started/1_2/en/06-Web-Server-Configuration page. Since I am using windows, my alias line looks like:

<B>c:\dev\sfproject\lib\vendor\symfony-1.2.9\data\web\sf</B> as well the subsequent Directory line. Also I replace the \home\sfproject\web file as
<B<c:\dev\sfproject\web</B> and the subsequent directory line with the same.

I have also made my apache server to listen at port 8080.

However, I am not able to see the results, firefox can't establish a connection with the localhost at 8080.

Can anybody pinpoint what's wrong with this, would be a great favor.
