maven profiles in 6.8

What happened to the Project Properties->Configurations->"Enable Project Configurations" and "Use Maven Project Profiles as Configurations" checkboxes in NB 6.8? It looks like in 6.8m2, neither is visible but it acts as if both are checked. This is a problem because Project Configurations are mutually exclusive but Maven build profiles are not, and our use of the profiles often requires more than one to be active at a time. Are those options expected to return before release?

you can create a new configuration and enable multiple profiles there.
the old ui is not coming back, we basically had 2 ways of doing the same
thing, now we settled on doing it the "standard" way as the other
project types do it.
