Open file types with one extension in a diferent editor

Hello all, I'm developing some plugins for the elgg platform, which is written in php.

They hava a view system that requires that all the files have the extension php, whether they are javascript or css etc..

I'm editing some heavy javascript files, but, since they have the php extension, netbeans opens them with the php editor, but I miss all that coding sugar specific to javascript files. What I would like to know is if is there any option to open a certain file with a certain editor, such as "open with" in eclipse.
