brand new noob...the right version of netbeans for what is needed...

Hi all,

This forum has been excellent reading so far. Can't say enough how much I appreciate it. Just signed up after spending some time here but I am just getting started with netbeans and am wondering which version is best for the task at hand?

I am looking to use netbeans to write an end user gui type application that connects to a MySQL 5.x backend.

Would anyone be willing to suggest the best things to have on hand to get that rollling. I know there are a lots of steps to go but I want to get started from the very beginning with the right stuff so I don't need to back track a lot.

Again, I am digging all the stuff in here already and appreciate any feedback.
