I use the backup/restore feature of the MySQL Administrator tool.
I usually make a backup of a database (all tables) on one machine, at home, (and a restore on the other one at work. Everything is copied, tables, views, stored procedures, indexes, keys.

I have tried out his feature before. I agree all the tables, keys etc.. are copied but I dont think the data of the tables are copied.
Not sure though..Better would be to copy the tables and re-enter the data
Thanks

I use MySQL's backup and restore features all the time.
I backup the database on the deployment server every week and often restore
that to my development server.
The backup feature backs up the schema and the data.
Note that I delete the database from the development server before restoring
it from the deployment server's backup.
Works every time.

I second that, the backup/restore feature is very helpful. I remember when i first found that my whole database was empty. I was freaking out until I remembered I could use the restore feature. I now backup often.
We are just truly encouraged though using fat burning furnace. Me has written about it in my little source site. |
