Bob, apologies for the dead link. We're experiencing tech difficulties with servers and are working to get the bits live. We'll make an annc to the community once the problem has been fixed. |

If your are using NetBeans 6.9, you would see some updates (from the regular update centers) |

Does one even need to download 6.9.1 if one already has 6.9?
It would seem that one should just be able to update one's plug-ins for
a minor version bump like this rather than download a new IDE. Do you
really have to download a new IDE to get all the 6.9.1 fixes/improvements?

The past couple of days this link has cycled between being dead and offering a download of 6.9. When the link is dead, 6.9.1 is being offered.
Currently, it is back to being a dead link. |

This link has been dead for a couple of days now. You have to wonder about who is managing a project in this manner and what they are thinking.
They are leaving a bunch of people hanging without any kind of response. I am thinking about chunking this thing and moving back to Eclipse.
It is one thing to have some bugs, but the attitude here is troubling. Does this kind of attitude permeate the entire development team at Sun/Oracle? Is this what we have to expect for the future? |

Lol, you would switch to Eclipse for that ? ><
Remember, you don't have to install NB 6.9.1, you can stay with your NB 6.9 and launch the update center (the 6.9.1 is a minor update, so it's also available as plugins update) |

Actually, you cannot download either 6.9 or 6.9.1 right now. You have to wonder how committed Sun/Oracle is when a problem like this is not corrected in a reasonable amount of time.
I have to go back to Eclipse for the time being. I can't sit around and wait for this if takes several days to correct the daggone link. I have to work! Tomorrow is Friday. The link has been broken since at least Wednesday. Something tells me that this won't be fixed until next week some time.
I'll check in next week. Maybe it will be fixed by then. |

Thanks gros_bidule!
I went back to 6.8. As far as those other download sites that you listed, are those links documented anywhere on the NetBeans site? I don't want to go to some adware site and start downloading bad stuff. |

edgesuite.net (owned by Akamai) is a big mirror for some companies. Some of its customers are Sun, Apple, etc : we don't use to see their url directly, by they are secure and legit (and the bandwidth is better)
When NB6.9 was launched, the files was hosted by edgesuite.net. The urls switched for netbeans.org a few days later.
I don't know why the NetBeans webmaster don't show the edgesuite.net links, they are ok. |
