OK, I'm an Eclipse fan-boy. I drink water in the name of Eclipse and IBM. I'm currently working for a project, for which I have to use NetBeans. I hate every freaking minute of using it.

After about a month, I have kind of reconciled with the "thing" and then suffered the final blow: Web Services with Metro.

As if NetBeans is not enough of a Nemesis to haunt stray Java developers who haven't actually ever used a decent IDE before, Sun has also thrown at us an avalanche of software, obviously coded by people with no sense of nice, plain, orthogonal logic, called Metro. The ball has disappeared from the court and the players are running around to find it...

NB 6.9.1 comes with Metro 2.0, which requires JAX-WS 2.2, right? We do NOT want to use the endorsed mechanism and we do NOT need any JAX-WS 2.2 features. So, I downloaded Metro 1.4 which works with the JAX-WS 2.1 bundled with Java 1.6u20 and used that. But NOOO, NB doesn't like it! It keeps modifying the project's innards (project.properties) endorsed.classpath entry to a directory (JAX-WS-ENDORSED) it CREATES ON ITS OWN in my libraries folder!! If I go ahead and remove the entry and the directory, everything works great! But just to remind me of the HELL I'm facing with this project and this IDE, NetBeans keeps on modifying the project every time I open it!!

Can somebody please try to explain me why I have to suffer this? Can somebody try to explain why NB just has to force developers to go with JAX-WS 2.2? Can somebody from NetBeans development answer whether this is a bug of the "thing" or a Sun's (sorry, Oracle's) policy to make everybody go with JAX-WS 2.2?

Just to let people know, I've rolled back to NB 6.7.1 which does not have such a strong opinion on which version of JAX-WS I should be using.. or at least, our opinions match!

I'm having the same problem with jaxb-api.jar (Topic: Netbeans 6.7->6.9.1 migration problem). NB 6.9.1 keeps adding /JAXB-ENDORSED/jaxb-api.jar to my lib folder. It adds jaxb-api.jar to .properties files but there is no information about jaxb-api.jar under Libraries in project options. Netbeans adds it automatically and away from user sight.

Is there any way to turn this off? It's really irritating.
