Usage of D, O, C, A and M in Keybindings

According to logical keybindings [1] D and O shall be used for the keybindings.  In the improved eclipse bindings [2] I can see the files using C and A which tell me even though D and O are suggested still then C and A are also accepted.

I can also see M being used in some sources which is documented as Meta key. 
Can I use the Meta M notation to specify ALT in Windows and Option key in Mac?
