We’re looking into incremental builds — trying to document the differences in popularity & productivity between using tools like Ant and Maven versus IDEs. We haven’t seen a study like this before, and we’ve already received responses from over 550 developers - but only 20 have said they use NetBeans. We feel this number is low, and we’d like this report to be as accurate as responsible, so if you can take 2 mins to answer the 3 multiple-choice questions in this Google Form, we’d really appreciate it.

Hmm... I suppose the first question should be better explained:

What build tool do you use for incremental builds on your largest current project?

# Ant
# Maven
# Eclipse
# Netbeans
# IntelliJ IDEA

if I use NetBeans, I'm either using Ant or Maven behind the scenes - from 6.7 we have the incremental compiler such as in Eclipse.. But I don't know how many people realize this is an incremental build, and this could explain why you have just a few NetBeans answers. I bet most of people using NetBeans will answer "Ant" in that case (in contrast to Eclipse users, that have enjoyed this feature for many years now). Your definition is ok, but I'd probably include a further sentence to explain that the NetBeans / Eclipse background compiler is a good candidate. I don't know whether it makes sense to change the definition in the middle of the poll, though.
