maven and checkstyle support + format with checkstyle rules - plugins and SQE seem too old

Anyone have a pom.xml snippet that shows setting up checkstyle with a
custom style.xml file? We need to he custom style.xml to be built into
a project of <packaging>pom</packaging> that comes into other projects
via <DependencyManagement> Thus those using it will just get the
checkstyle without having to do anything special.
1. custom checkstyle config.xml
2. support in netbeans 6.9 including editor based feedback
: all the plugins are very old
3. source formatting and entire source tree formatting
based on the custom checkstyle.xml config file

looked at the plugins from the checkstyle site and SQE however they seem
to not work in 6.9.
