|
|
Hi there,
When writing up SQL queries, I often test it out directly in a
database console / UI first to save time (for instant feedback).
I was wondering, is there something similar for JPA's JPQL queries?
ie. is there any tool / plugin that can let us try out various JPQL
queries without having to write + run dummy test code? It would be a
great time saver.
thanks,
King |

I've read that it's been planned a jpql editor for NetBeans 7. At least, it's said on this page:
http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeansJPASupport
Is it true and it has been really worked on?
It would be great to have a JPQL editor on Netbeans with JPA 2.0 syntax.
Anyone knows anything about it?
Geraldo. |

Bump. I checked out the Wiki page linked above, and downloaded the latest NetBeans 7 milestone release to check out the JPQL editor. However, even though it's almost a year since that Wiki page was last edited, the JPQL editor doesn't seem to exist yet even in alpha state.
I left a comment in the discussion tab of that Wiki page asking about it, and through I'd revive this thread also. Does anyone know if this feature is even being developed at all, or did it fail to get off the drawing board?
If my company were using Hibernate for its JPA provider, in the worst case I could at least use the Eclipse plugins to test ad hoc JPQL. However, we're using GlassFish with TopLink, and it just doesn't seem to be anything out there. |
