(until nb mutates back in a java only ide again???)

You can use the dev auto update center. Python seems to still work though I'm a
python newbie:
http://deadlock.netbeans.org/hudson/job/nbms-and-javadoc/lastStableBuild/artifact/nbbuild/nbms/updates.xml.gz
The ruby support was taken over by some community members. Hoping the same
happens with python because, yes, Oracle is not going to be the ones supporting
that in the IDE. The same with some other technologies too.
However, if the principles of OSS, and the reason many are using NetBeans,
Eclipse, different Apache projects, etc, are solid, then this is a good thing
and not a bad one. It means someone can make the initial upfront investment for
the many and then a few take over and support that investment and keep it alive.
If that isn't true, then why use open source at all? Is it just for free
software?
