noob svn question

I checked out a C++ svn project (using svn external to netbeans). It has this dir structure:

projx
-.svn
-branches
-tags
-trunk


now how do I load this as a project into netbeans?

I tried 'using preexisting sources" it says cant find makefile ?

Within the sources there should be a make file, you need to point to that folder.

I noticed you checked out the whole repository, probably you don't need must of those, probably only the contents of the trunk.
