As a M$ software engineer who made the switch to Java after 12 years on the
M$ platform, I found Netbeans VWP attractive for numerous reasons, most of
those stated by other developers. But I laugh at the evangelists here on
Nabble who attempt to minimize the impact of Sun - opps, Oracle - dropping
this feature. The key reason why M$' Visual Studio continues to whip the
tale of other IDEs is the fact that many developers need to play the roles
of UI Designer (many are actually pretty good in my experience), middleware
developer and database architect. This observation is from working in many
environments, both large and small, over the course of 16 years in software.
That's why VWP is highly prized.
For Sun to cut-off VWP is not surprising... I would expect to see NB 7.0
Professional to include VWP for some $. Don't be surprised since Sun has to
have a positive income line on Oracle's diverse company portfolio balance
sheet. Developers beware... if NB continues to exhibit a shaky VWP strategy,
look elsewhere for the good of your projects and deadlines. You simply can't
continue to jump through hoops and expect to maintain and patch apps on this
type of shaky ground!

Visual Designer very useful tool. It's pity it has been canceled. We are
using it for all WEB projects.
Also it would be very good to have ER tool in NB. Otherwise we have to use
ER tool from aside.
