Hello,

This may be beyond NB's support but I wanted to bring this up. I've been uploading files using NB and sometimes I download them through Dreamweaver to edit them further.

The problem is that when I upload them from NB and download with DW, there are extra line breaks, so a single line break becomes a double one and so on. There line breaks become permanent, so I see them even in NB afterwards.

I've been using many editors and this is the first time I've seen this problem. I don't know if it is exclusive to DW downloading the files, but it may be that any FTP client downloading a file uploaded by NB does this.

I've seen this in version 6.7 Beta and RC1. Not sure if this happens with older versions.

what are the exact steps to reproduce? Does this happen even with another FTP
clients (than DW)?

Thanks,
Tomas

I haven't had the chance to test this with other FTP clients, but these are the steps to reproduce:

1) Create a project in NB from existing files.
2) Set up FTP to your site
3) Edit a file in your project then upload it to the server
4) Open DW and also create the FTP connection
5) 'GET' the file using DW's FTP client
6) Open the file in DW to see the extra line breaks
7) Open the file in NB to see the extra line breaks

You could follow the same steps with any other FTP client to see if it happens. Just replace steps 4 and 5 and skip 6.

would it be possible to have a sample file? Maybe it's related to EOLs? I don't
know, I would try.
(I would prefer if you could file an issue [1] for this so we can track all the
related information there.)

Thanks,
Tomas

Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to have to do a little more testing because I get this problem on one webserver but not on another. I have the original files for the problematic webserver on my home computer so I'll need to check it out in the evening when I'm back.

Hopefully I can pinpoint what's up to be able to replicate it.

I'll create a support ticket as soon as I get a little more information.
