I have created a mobile application, using the Java ME Mobile Application. I want to load the application to the mobile, HOW DO I DO THAT? Do I need to compile it to jar format? Do I need to compile it to executable file .exe to enable it to be load at the mobile. Please do give some guides on this how to make it an application loaded to the mobile, and then when user choose this application, it can automated run, and connect.
The mobile must have GPS and 3G? What type of mobile that you can suggest for the mobile application? Nokia? Samsung? Please help to suggest which brand is most suitable and good. And also which model.
Please do help me on this. Your help is much appreciated. |

Hi,
It depends on your phone brand and your provider.
You have to create a JAR file (NB will do this for you) and a JAD file when you want to use OTA (Over The Air) provisioning. OTA is depending on your provider. I believe that US providers want to decide what you install on your phone, European providers don't really care.
When you want to use OTA you need to make your JAD and JAR file available on a website. There are some sites around that will host your JAR and JAD. Just point your mobile-phone to the URL of the JAD file and all will work pretty much without problems. But this can be costly initially because you might run into problems that need fixing and you will then need to re-do it all. And since internet-time is still costly with most providers... Do a Google on OTA and JAD and you should get a ton of help.
Alternatively you can use to software that came with your phone to install apps on it. I know that Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung have this as I own phones from these brands. You just select the JAR file and it will be installed. Now you can use it and test on your device.
As a 3rd alternative, NB can deploy it for you. I know this works with Nokia and PC Suite installed on your Windows PC. In NB you can set the deployment method to use the Nokia connection. Right-clicking on your mobile project and selecting Deploy will build the JAR and deploy it on your phone.
Hope this helps.
