Hi there. I've been trying to create an SVG menu screen using CS3 but i'm experiencing
some difficulties. I create the menu screen in illustrator and save it in an SVG Tiny 1.1
format but when i try to open it in netbeans 6.1 i get an error, 'Image is not SVG Tiny
compliant'. I'm not that conversent with XML but when i do 'Check XML' in the SVG composer
i don't get an error warning in the output window. The error shows up in the view section,
'Fatal Error:www.w3.org'. I've completed making a game app using netbeans GameBuilder and
i want to use SVG components to complete interaction screens for the app. Is there a
detailed step-by-step tutorial(free) that i can use to get me through this? Or do you have
any other suggestions? I'm in Kenya so it is difficult for me to view online videos due to
internet speeds and i have to use a cyber cafe. Something downloadable in a short time
could be an option.

I have also noticed that other developers have been experiencing the same problem getting
suitable tutorials and have resorted to stripping the svg menu XML code from the SVG files
in netbeans mobility SVG tutorial.

I finally figured out what the problem is. Values written as "240px" instead of "240"
generate errors.
PNG images embedded in the SVG file also cause errors when running the java emulator. The
SVG image is visible in the SVG splashScreen component but an error is generated in the
emulator.
The SVG composer tends to offset text if the SVG image is created in illustrator CS3.
Any tips?

Greetings,

Many things have changed with the SVG support since NetBeans 5.5. The
good news is that there's an updated SVG based tutorial available now
with the release of NetBeans 6.7.

http://www.netbeans.org/kb/docs/javame/svgtouch.html

It's based on the hands on lab 5539 given at JavaOne this year. It was
created by Karol Harezlak and assisted by Lukas Hasik and myself. Please
take a look at it and give us feedback. There are probably additional
changes required, but it should give you a much better idea of the SVG
support offered by the newest release of NetBeans.

Cheers,
Brad
