Running SQL statement in java

I am using netbeans to connect to my server i can pull all the data with the java.util.Iterator<Passwords> n = passwordsList.iterator(); and go through all the items in the database.

I am wondering how to run an insertion sql statement or even an update statement from java.

So what would be the best way to do this or how would i do this?
