I have this problem, or rather, I have two.
The first problem is my own inexperience with Java. Last time I had to do something with Java was 13 years ago at school. There is therefore a very big chance my problem is a simple one, I just don't see the answer.
My problem is this;
I have an existing (originally eclipse) project that is based on Tomcat (at least it uses tomcat dependencies)
According to netbeans, no problems. I have imported the project, then Netbeans complained about the tomcat home path, I corrected it and the dependency resolved without trouble.
The project itself has a few packages. One of these packages has a file I had to fix a bug in. That bugfix is done, but now I need to compile, so I push F9 and then I get an error;
|....../FileServer/work/org/apache/jsp/log_jsp.java:7: package fileserver.logging does not exist |
that line states:
|import fileserver.logging.*; |
And that package is clearly visible in the project.
Now I did not blindly post this, I have read a lot of posts and most of them refer to include paths and class paths etc, but I cannot seem to find those settings, at least not in the spot they are supposed to be.
I'm running NetBeans 6.5.1 on Mac OSX 10.5.
This is the structure of the project (and again, I have had to adopt this project due to a takeover, don't blame me if the structure is bad )
+ (lot of .java files)
+ FileDataServlet.java ( THIS is the file I need to build a new class file for )
+ (few more .java files)
Now, what I understand (or think I understand) is ;
the FileDataServlet imports the package with log_jsp.java in it, and log_jsp.java tries to import fileserver.logging.*
The latter import fails.
Million dollar question is; why.
And that's where I need help. I just don't understand why Netbeans can't find the package while it's clearly present.
To complete the story;
The "missing" fileserver.logging package is not the only one missing, but I figure, if I know how to fix one, I can fix em all.
I thank you for any hints, even the most basic ones.
