In my view, NetBeans code editor is by far the best of whatever, I've seen so far. It not only has lots and lots of goodies, but it is too intelligent than I expect always! The most best features of code editor I like were: the color schemes (Fonts & Color), the Ctrl+Space which tries to always give the best choices first and upon selection, automatically adds the package names as well! Then the automated filling of the parameters or a method expanded by the Ctrl+Space. Its so intelligent that most of the time, its guesses in filling up the parameters are on target. And many added plugins to the Code editor like formatter, javadoc filler, ability to go through errors and warnings and fix them up easily with the given alternatives, etc
UML: I've learnt UML and its internals from a NetBeans tutorial and using NetBeans to create them. My favourite parts of it were: `reverse engineering`, exporting as images, the code generation.
XML: NetBeans in near future will no doubt will be a strong competitor for the commercial XMLSpy. The XML, XSD creation were the best part of it. |
