I don't know how many of you ruby users are familiar with shoes yet, but it is the coolest thing since sliced bread. Shoes support for the latest netbeans version would be way sweet. Recognition of .sty files as ruby scrip for the editor would be sweet (does anyone know how to set this manually?) as well as the ability to hit a button which executes the shy files using shoes (instead of ruby) would be even cooler! I'll start a poll to see who thinks shoes support would be groovy.

There was a thread about Shoes year or more ago. But these days with the
better infrastructure it should not be that hard to add support for
Shoes. Could you file an RFE into our Issuezilla under ruby/platform
(sub)component. (one click registration). I might do it, but would be
better if you might provide a feedback. Thanks.

1) go to "Menu | Tools | Options | Miscellaneous | Files"
2) click "New.." button
3) type in "sty" (without quotes)
4) associate with "Ruby Files (text/x-ruby)"

And confirm the Options dialog.

I kind of thought that that was the way to do it, but when I tried, there was no "text/x-ruby" option. Closest thing was a "application/x-httpd-eruby" option and when I got an error message and things stopped worked, so I wasn't sure whether I had done things correctly. I suppose I should submit a report about this too. I'll do so a bit later - pretty busy atm.

Cheers

What build are you using. I've tried with 6.5 RC2 and it works:

Might be you have something older?
