|

Noob question here ... I want to use my domain name (ie, ISpamTheWeb.com) as my starting point for my web url. The default in NetBeans sets it up so that I have to also use my project name (ISpamTheWeb.com:8080/HelloWorld) in addition to my domain name. I don't want users to have to know about "HelloWorld" ... just put "http://ISpamTheWeb.com" in the URL window. I'm sure this is possible (most likely its easy). Can someone help? Thanks
BTW, I have Tomcat installed on my machine using port 80 and I've left GlassFish with default 8080. I'm guessing that the answer to the above question doesn't affect which server I use. |

I 2nd the bump here. When building ssl enabled apps, localhost:8080 causes issues with the certs.
How can we change the url? |

| Thanks for replying ... no one else seems to know the answer. But am I missing something? I think what you're saying is that company's like go daddy etc map IP's to domain names. Well, thats sorta the point of the question. How do you set up glassfish so that you can use the domain name directly and not put in a sub-directory as the starting point for the html request. I know that you can update the html file in the default location for glassfish to redirect to the sub-directory ... but I don't really wanna do this because browsers are often set up to block re-directions. Any of you netbeans guru's wanna chime in? |

Set the context-root to point to your app's war file.
In Tomcat put it the webapps/ROOT folder (delete the other stuff first).

The domain names can be used as the default ones by using the set of default name servers, the domain names can be used as the default name servers for the particular agency of the hosting company for each time working on it. Produce some more attachemnts for the more detailed view.
