I've gone through the FAQ and searched the wiki. What tools or methods does NB offer to manager user permissions?

On my own system I've worked around this using the change --userdir option. Its wonky because I must install and use NB from the other systems where I wish to have access and then changing to their user.

What am I missing? How do I set user and password for projects located on remote systems?
