The NetBeans Poll is a quick glimpse at what NetBeans users and developers think about current technology trends, including topics within the NetBeans community.

We welcome suggestions for future poll topics.

Serious or light-hearted, topical or quirky, submit your poll ideas on this thread.

You never know--your submission could be next featured poll! Smile

Okay, here are some ideas for polling questions.

How many programmers do you have on hand to answer your Java and/or NetBeans questions?

Do you think NetBeans needs more refactorings in the Java support?
What would it take for you personally to contribute more refactorings?
a. Hell freezing over.
b. A custom language for defining the refactoring.
c. An api for refactoring.
d. Documentation.
e. Someone to hold my hand and get me through it.
f. Someone to take my refactoring and move it through the submission process for me.

Do you use NetBeans at home, or just at work?

Is NetBeans fast enough?
Fast enough starting up?
Fast enough editing Java code?
Fast enough opening new Java classes by name?
Have you bought an SSD to deal with it?

Do you use the built-in help for NetBeans? Should NetBeans provide more?

Should ctrl-space and ctrl-shift-space be merged?

Are you writing any Christmas apps using NetBeans?

When you're writing software and visualizing the relationships between objects, what does it visually look like?
a. eggs frying in a pan
b. spagetti broiling in a casserole
c. spokes of a wheel coming out of a hub
d. popcorn strung on a Christmas tree
e. legos
f. sticking forks into a potato
g. wrapping a Christmas present in multiple layers of wrapping paper
h. getting all your eggs into one basket
i. all of the above
j. some of the above
k. none of the above

That's all for now.

Kind Regards,
-John

Thanks for the suggestions, John!

Some of these are questions/issues (performance, feature request) that we tackle in the Satisfaction Surveys we send out after each release. Did you take the recent one for 7.2? Smile

Hi tinu,

I looked today and the survey for 7.2 closed, but I couldn't find the results. After you said some of these were covered, I was curious to see the results. I can't find any links with google or with netbeans search. Perhaps I'm using the wrong keywords? Maybe these are just not publicly available?

Regardless, thanks for your work, tinu.

Kind Regards,
-John

Hi John,

The survey closed early last week. We've not released results in the past, but we're evaluating if aspects of this last survey can be made available publicly. Stay tuned.

Thanks.
