I wrote a simple index.html page after creating a New Project->Java Web->Web Application. All it does is display is a Hey and a title.
When I press F6 I get this message:
Could not start GlassFish Server: HTTP or HTTPS listener port is occupied while server is not running

What am I doing wrong?
How can I solve this problem?

Thanks!

Hi Papa,

Either another instance of GlassFish or another server occupying the ports (HTTP: 8080, HTPS 8181: Admin. 4848) is running.

in Linux edit hosts

sudo vi /etc/hosts

and adds

127.0.0.1 my-name-of-hosts

save and close the file

execute glassfish
./asadmin start-domain domain1

Restart system and look with netstat, if some process is runing on these ports.

Or look at the Services Tab under Servers and stop Glassfish with right click.

Thanks so much. It was Apache the one causing the problem.

You may change the GlassFish ports withing its config file to avoid future conflicts.
Do not forget also to change withing NetBeans, menus Tools, Servers.

Start GlassFish from NetBeans and not by running your application. First, figure out if GlassFish is correctly installed.

you can easily resolve this problem by changing the port number of glassfish.

Go to glassfich configuration File domain.xml which is located under GlassFish_Server\glassfish\domains\domain1\config.

Open this file, then change the following line:

<network-listener port="8080" protocol="http-listener-1" transport="tcp"
name="http-listener-1" thread-pool="http-thread-pool"></network-listener>
replace 8080 by 9090 for example, then save file and run glassfish again. it should nicely work.[/url]
