Hello,
As we released NB 8.2 we will switch daily builds towards JDK9 support.

On Mon Oct 10th JDK9 branch from jet-main repo will be merged into
master. After merge propagates through all repos dev build is compilable
only by JDK8 and NB Dev build will run only on JDK8.
After the merge NetBeans Java SE support (Ant project types) correctly
recognizes JDK9 Java Platform, it works with module-info.java and basic
edit-compile-debug-test cycle will be working. More info on JDK9 support
is in this wiki http://wiki.netbeans.org/JDK9Support The special daily
build of JDK9 branch will be turned off
http://bits.netbeans.org/netbeans/nb9-for-jdk9_jigsaw/daily/latest/

We recommend to run NB dev builds on JDK8 as IDE runtime platform for
some time it is much more stable than running on JDK9 EA. JDK9 EA build
https://jdk9.java.net/download/ has to be used Projects Java Platform.
We are not targeting Jigsaw builds!

We are making sure that various tests are passing so modules out of Java
SE support will not be affected and should work normally as in 8.2 (NB
modules which are not adapted to modulepath). It is possible that
something might get broken.

This change will move us toward full support of JDK9 at the time of JDK9
release next year.
Thanks',
Martin

Hello,
Merge was completed, all repos were updated and all important build jobs
are running.
NetBeans daily dev build
http://bits.netbeans.org/download/trunk/nightly/latest/ is now capable
of working with JDK9 EA as Project Java Platform.

We are continuing JDK9 dev support and we will soon publish some plan
for what features Oracle engineering plans to deliver to NetBeans 9.

Regards Martin
