Hi everyone...

I'm trying to install NB-6.5 on Win2k.

I downloaded the provided file, netbeans-6.5-ml-windows.exe , twice and
tried to install but no luck; it didn't install. When I run the downloaded
file, it gives me the error message: "netbeans-6.5-ml-windows.exe " and
"Installer file netbeans-6.5-ml-windows.exe seems to be corrupted". Indeed
the downloaded file is only 152 MB only whereas it should be 248.6 MB as it
says on the download page.

Any suggestions please as how to resolve this?

Regards.

Hi,

well, you probably should download it again if your file was not
downloaded correctly. Or try to download one of "restricted" IDEs, e.g.
java only or php only ... if you experience troubles with download.

Regards,
Filip.

Thanks for the answer,

Yes I think as a last resort I'll go for a restricted download.

I downloaded the file three times, two using Firefox and one using Internet Explorer but all gave the same error message.

Regards.
Sam

Another alternative is by using Download Manager that allows resume
download and have checksum capabilities.

Thank you for the tips.

I downloaded the file from the mirror site and it worked perfect. (for anyone who encounters a similar problem).

cheers

I've never had any problems downloading NetBeans files (I use the download manager).

HOWEVER, I did experience consistent file truncation problems, when downloading Apache C++ Standard Library file stdcxx-4.2.1.tar.gz from www.apache.org/dist/stdcxx/ using BOTH Firefox 3.0.3 and MS IE 6.0.

Site archive.apache.org/dist/stdcxx/ gave similar problems.

File stdcxx-incubating-4.2.0.tar.gz gave similar problems.

You can read the discussion thread related to this problem at:

http://www.nabble.com/File-truncation-Problem-Downloading-stdcxx-4.2.1.tar.gz-to20452964.html

As in Sam's case, the solution recommended by the Apache discussion moderator, was to try a mirror site. There were no truncation problems when I downloaded the file from a mirror site.

More recently I have successfully downloaded files from a cvs branch of the Apache C++ Standard Library development project, using the cvs client built in to NetBeans.

Sam reports in his original post: "I'm trying to install NB-6.5 on Win2k" and "Indeed the downloaded file is only 152 MB only whereas it should be 248.6 MB as it says on the download page. ".

The commonalities between Sam and I are: (1) Both using Windows (XP SP2 in my case), and (2) File truncation.

Sam, were you using a web browser, to perform the download?
