Hello,

I was working on ubuntu 9.10 before but now I did a fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 TLS and it seems that netbeans has not a nice look like other programs. The menu's are too big and the list of files is also to big.

Here I show you a screen of netbeans ( big menu and unactive menu items show so bad + big font list of files ) :

and a screen of evolution mail, where al the things are showed good :

And the normal menu, also good :

What is the problem?

Thanks in advance,
Dries

Hello

I have totally same problem, Was you able to manage this inconvenience?

I have tried to search for it, only thing I have found is this - http://forums.netbeans.org/topic18965.html but without switching to the metal --font size doesnt affect tree and menubars.

EDIT:"
Maybe I have found some kind of solution - If i change DPI of the font in GNOME slightly lower to the 94 instead of default 96, All ubuntu fonts stays almoust the same, but Netbeans's menus make font much smaller. Only difference I can see is that they are not use ssame rendering and hinting as gnome. - http://forums.netbeans.org/post-63860.html

Try adding --fontsize 13 to netbeans_default_options in ~/netbeans/6.9/etc/netbeans.conf

It's ok for me, you can try changing 13 with something that fits you better.

Nono, as I said --fontsize doesn't affect fontsize of menubars and tree if I don't use metal as L&F. If I manipulate with DPI in Gnome font settings, even by two points, MenuBars's font literaly jumps from huge to quite normal. Maybe its because of big screen resolution, colleagues with exactly same OS and smaller screens don't have this problem.

Now I have found that there is a package called sun-java6-fonts (something like that). I will try it and tell if there will be some coincidence.

But thank you for your response.

I don't think that will work - if I remember correctly, "--fontsize" is ignored when the L&F is GTK (and it is, by default in Linux). If you change the L&F to Metal, the --fontsize is respected (but not necessary :-)
