I'm using Kubuntu Linux 11.10.

I'm learning PHP and following a PHP tutorial that teaches to save the project in the /var/www/ directory.

But when I enter this path Netbeans indicates an error:
"Sources Folder is Not Writable"

The problem occurred because I was not allowed to write to that folder.

This problem can be solved by providing the write permission to this directory. For example, in the terminal:

-Create a folder (Note that using sudo to have permission to create the folder in the directory):

Code:
 sudo mkdir /var/www/MinhaPastaDeProjetos

-Change the permission of the folder:

Code:
 sudo chmod 777 /var/www/MinhaPastaDeProjetos

Now, you can create your projects in this folder.

Do not chmod 777 instead add your user to the apache or httpd group depending on your os
then
Code:
sudo chown -R <your username>:<apache group name> directory

this will recursively let you write to your dir. when you create directories with php it usually creates them as apache only dirs
